One Room at a Time

lyrics

One room at a time
Your body is your house
The door is closed, you live in that one
The next day you come out

One time in a house
Your body eases out a door
The window wakes up, you look out that one
You occupy the ground floor

The hawthorn still poking at its space
The accidental apple still sleeps
One willow, out above the water
Hands up to the sky, trying not to weep....

Two steps at a time
The attic's quiet at the top
Your body houses all these levels
Keep on climbing, never stop!

Over time, in your house
The upper floors offer their view
Every room, contains a river
All the things will flow down through

The hawthorn still poking at its space
The accidental apple still sleeps
One willow, out above the water
Hands up to the sky, trying not to weep....

(every room contains a river)
One room at a time
Your body is your house.
