lyrics

LYRICS:

Dave was a hammer,
or maybe a nail.
He'd go down every morning
with his father's lunch pail.

Dave was a necktie
possibly a pen
there were layers of labor
the future, the present and then:

Chorus:
Where they were spinning
the Stars of David
From the beginning
the Stars of David
Mothers and sisters
the Stars of David
gradually came to a stop

Dave was so awkward
surprised by her lips
the noise of the streetcar
and her finger tips

Closing his eyes then,
it's the desert in the dark
thousands of years then,
still no safe space to park...

Chorus

Dave was a shovel,
maybe some sand.
He'd go down every morning
with his lunch in his hand...
