Vague Impression

by Larry Hirshberg

/

about

Written when i was approximately half as old as i am now, and it actually means more to me now than it did then! Possibly performed mid or late 90's, maybe more than one demo version exists from ages ago? After unearthing a 4track cassette recording, I finally re-learned, and more properly recorded it, and played it live a couple times in December 2022.

lyrics

Vague Impression

She touched my hand when she made my change
Sent a twitch right through my bones
But then I disengaged
Like hanging up the phone

I walk the sky all night
How sweet can distance be
But then it all turns white
The film is gone it's just the screen

Chorus:
All the things happening
I can feel them pulsing deep
But after all these scattered hours
A vague impression is all I get to keep

I read his words and weep
My past is in my throat
And then my life's the sea
These years a haunted boat

Chorus

Tomorrow will be Saturday
Something big is in the air
I'm going out to play
I only hope I'm really there

Chorus
